With the whole season (barring the last episode) taking place over the course of one day, the beloved restaurant and its found family of chefs find themselves faced with the worst conditions any operating business can have. The business is running on empty, how much worse can it get for the crew? Season 5 is one last adrenaline-filled ride in the restaurant, wrapping up each character beautifully with wholesome endings.

Brilliantly cast and conceived, Widow’s Bay features an adorably awkward, wholly endearing ensemble. While comedy often functions on the use of stereotypes for quick laughs, Widow’s Bay serves up each small town horror trope with extra sauce.

But where it could take measures to insulate itself from criticism or social media outrage, Half Man never apologizes for itself. It depicts people making selfish decisions and all the wrong choices—not simply to be sensational, but to paint a grounded, gritty, and realistic portrayal of toxic masculinity.

Season 2’s slower pace does not make it any less unrelenting in its plot decisions. Set on the Fourth of July, this season of The Pitt expertly straddles all the comedy and tragedy that comes from taking care of people during a holiday weekend.

With enough driving force to keep you latched onto every medical malady, though, you’d assume The Pitt is another stock series full of shock value cases and genius treatment plans. Instead, The Pitt is a jarringly intimate look at the inside of a Pittsburgh trauma center that is understaffed and underfunded—with all the ideological weight these settings and circumstances must bear.
